Dear Kwesta...

I have been watching and observing and reading and listening and I couldn’t just not say anything. Coz some of these things that are happening and some of these things that people are saying .... really piss me off! But it’s not about them. I hope you are keeping well and safe.

Like I said, I have been watching and unfortunately the winds of change would sooner or later come to tide and this would be your reality. Though I expected it, I hate that it’s happening. Please just bear in mind that its only momentarily.

I really do hope you are doing okay and you are as strong as you make it out to be. And I hope you are not going under because of the dust of the gravel road. You know what it is. You know the ying goes with the yang, day goes with night and ups goes with the down, so I really so hope you do understand this and you are stayin put and staying up and waiting for spring time.

You know who you are. Don’t forget that. Don’t lose that. Don’t discard that. Don’t question that. Be that.

Even in these foggy, cold ass muddy times. You are effin’ Kwesta! People might forget, but you know who you are.

You are the role model, the kid who made it and became a Hip Hop icon. The talented, award winning K1, raspy voiced powerhouse of a rapper. You are a dream collaboration, a crush, a sbwl, future mentor, an inspiration and a case study. You are....Da King

Remember when you performed with Kelly Rowland, your first ever music video, remember all the shows you killed, all the deals you closed, all the headlines, all the chart topping music? Do you remember when you shot the Boom Shakalaka music video and realised you were taking off? #Rally4DaKAR? Do you remember when you were on Hype Magazine cover and your interview with Fred Keyembe, your many many other interviews, the music videos, the collaborations? Your RiSA 7× platinum certification?

Do you remember when you got on the plane and went to kill on the SWAY show? Do you remember when you got on stage to accept your awards? Do you remember when you wrote and recorded KING SPEECH and the events thereafter that? Do you remember when you were coming up? Do you remember doing interviews in restaurants and roadsides, events and speaking truthfully, deeply and profoundly?

Do you remember who you are? Do you remember your story? Do you remember when you felt happy?

This too shall pass. I don’t want you losing your essence. You still got a load of stuff to do. Cole said “I might bend a lil bit but I won’t fold” I hope you are listening to him more, and yourself and your sacred space. I hope you are not regretting anything and picking up these lessons and doing the most with them.

I hope you still believe that there’s more souls you need to touch, more shows to kill, more songs to write, more moves to make and well, more life to live. There’s no highs that don’t come with lows, take them for what they are and ride them out.

Like I said, I knew shid was bound to get here because that’s just the nature of the game and the curse of the gift. When you pray for the rain right…? Anyways, the industry comes with its own things. Sad to say you are not the first, nor the last to experience the dark, bad side or the downfall of it.

Just don’t let it keep you there or change you, for the worst. Go tlo feta and when it does, your real ones will be right here, re go emetse! Our thoughts are with you. Leave the past, just don’t leave.I’ll leave you with a quote by J. Cole which goes:

“fuck the charts, get their hearts coz love is only real treasure we own”

Oh my bad, you said that!....just thought to reMIND you.

Love and Light, A Fan.

The Motswako Prince of Maftown, Sly YoHighness

It looks like Sly YoHighness might just got next as the Motswako Prince. It's now been a long while since we've had a proper Motswako wave breakthrough. Remember when the Morafe and Tuks wave hit, or when Gata lenna came out, Fifi Cooper and the late HHPs consistency and many comebacks? A lot of us have been wondering "who got next"? With the fall of guys like Notshi and KT struggling to properly cement his stance, is Sly the guy to look out for? I hit him up through the socials, to find out what he's been up to and if he really got his sight set on the throne. So how did he get into this whole music and creative space thing? He says he's always been artistic and one thing led to the other . "I love & have always loved acting. I'm very out there & funny too (yes, he is). So once I started writing I kinda never stopped, though I always felt it's a farfetched dream or whatever but I kept on writing, even if it was just for mysel

Tan89Media Tips For Emerging Talent

Attention Emerging Talent!! So, for the years that I have been dealing with and working alongside emerging talent, more so, artists. I have noticed some behavior pertaining to their brand. That could be credited to lack of experience and knowledge but it could also be ignorance and lack of proactivity. A lot of talent lacks a lot of knowledge of their industries. The very same field they want to occupy one day. Its super essential for anyone to know as much as possible when it comes to a dream they are pursuing or a skill they are great at or anything for that matter they say they are passionate about. The very basic things to know are many times overlooked and undermined and they play a huge role in how you develop as a brand, how you are perceived, and it shows just how serious or not one is about whatever it is they are pursuing. I have listed and broken down six (6) tips for emerging/ up and coming brands/ talents. Hopefully they will serve helpful to some. 1. The bas
