Beyond The Music with Nombulelo Mfebe

Nombulelo Mfebe aka Filoe is a fireball of energy, bublyness, positivity and passion.  She's a Mafikeng original, now residing in Rustenburg where she's pursuing her hustle. That already tells you something about her right? Yep, she's a lady on a mission. Plus she's hella funny.  If you had to,how would you describe yourself, who are you? I would describe myself as a very complicated being but all intentions are driven by a pure heart. I'm so friendly yet rude when tested. I'm a ball of EXTRA lol. I'm so extra in everything i do.  I'm passionate and such a perfectionist and I think I'm bossy I want things done my way but I'm also open to good critism. How did you get into radio? I've always loved radio. At home we listened to radio a lot because my parents love it. In my dad's car,in the morning preparing for school. Radio was always on. I loved how much they influenced people. Like you just sit there and talk and then

Artist Feature: Ora Kola

Ora Kola is no doubt talented. He's released singles overtime that got positive feedback. Got him it touch with some right people and his fan base and following grew. He got airplay and TV features too. He's even super impressive on a cipher, having won a title of one a few years back,  but unfortunately talent is at the very bottom of the list, of the success recipe. VP Graphics He recently dropped a tribute track to the late legendary HHP and man did he not handle! Its a beautiful one. Check it on SlikourOnLife: Like You He was introduced to the people when he went to Idols and it being such a massive platform, after that there were more people who knew Ora Kola than those who had been introduced and grown to know Oracle. So that's when the big switch up that meant no more "Oracle VersePrince" happened. That was just the rebranding though coz O been " rapper, singer, designer" since he knew he could. Being a triple thread is not ea

What does loosing HHP mean to you?

Once in a while comes a person that HHP was. Once in a while comes a person who could just be an everybody's and anybody's person. Both funny and profound. Silly and serious but above all a pioneer. I could lie and say "the dust has settled" and all those other "comforting clichés" that we forever say. But with death, the going on's of life stay reminding, poking, tapping us in the shoulder. Telling and reminding  us of a soul we've lost. When I found out that HHP had passed away last month, I was genuinely in disbelief! I was sad and shocked. I then watched as everything unfolded on the socials and media. I watched as people expressed their sadness, their best and fondest moments, how some made the death about themselves and how some were just straight up foul and being assholes about it. I wanted to write a piece sooner, commemorating him, I really wanted to. With all that surrounded his passing (and still do), there's a lot of th

Beyond The Music with Shayzar

You know, when you think you have an idea about a person and then boom! You realise they are a much bigger deal than they had made it seem. You realise the only definite thing you know about them besides how talented they are is that they never smile. That's Shayzar Zimanyi of Mix Masters International. His track record is hella impressive. So, I've known Shay for a long bit. From back in the days when I presumed he was paying his dues and earning his stripes working with a very(back then) unknown Gigi LaMayne kanti guy has been at this long long way before. He starts by telling where and how it all began for him. "I began producing music at the age of 15. Recording artists in the neighbourhood and steadily expanded from city to city.I was fortunate enough that my family was already involved in the music industry locally and regionally." And he says this made breaking out an easy transition as he had the age advantage and the connects. "I started at

South African Hip Hop Awards Nominees 2018

So, the SAHHA people at RMG have dropped the nominees list for 2018 and it's looking all sorts of impressive. I was at the first ever workshop about these Awards and the actual award ceremony about 7 years ago and man they have grown! The challenges are noted and the  moves  are celebrated. Growth is evident. This good for the culture. Its good for history and the kids. Its good for SA Hop.... Maybe next year they'll add "Best Hip Hop Writer/Blogger" and your girl might be in the mix 😏 There's some categories I'm looking closely at to see who's gonna take the bag. Like Best Male,Lyricist, Remix,Video,Female, and DJ. People have been putting on the work no doubt. But we know who's taking "Song of the Year" right? I know there's gonna be some folks swaying this way and some swaying that way, oksalayo that's the list and that's it.(you know the SAHHA anthem "they didn't submit") and  that's truth.
