After a much controversial and ground-breaking nomination announcement which was held on Monday, 5th of November. The team is proud to announceSABC 1 as the official broadcast partner for the second year in a row, an addition spreading the reach of the awards to millions of South Africans, but also aligning the awards to SABC 1’s proposition of being more than TV but youth culture. Also, we’re honoured to introduce the sponsors which areKlipDrift, SAMRO, Stylin’ Dredz and Castle Lite respectively, the event proceedings promise to be more entertaining, informative and engaging for the Hip Hop masses that will be in attendance with special tributes to Ben Sharpa, Pro Kid and HHP.

We aim to raise the bar even higher this year, with SAMRO sponsoring the video of the year category, Castle Lite unlocking female of the year, KlipDrift promoting gold between friends by sponsoring best collaboaration, SABC 1 backing the MVP award and last year's major sponsor Stylin' Dredz coming back on board and locking the best freshman category where the winner will get to be part of a R80,000 training program. We also have a new award called the "UBUNTU ACTIVISM"award that is aimed at giving recognition to people within the industry that are giving back to the community and doing programs to uplift humanity, the first reciepent for this award is Aewon Wolf who has built a school in Kwa Zulu Natal.“The theme for this year is where I’m from and “the idea of that theme is for us to start reflecting consciously on where is your mind from, where is your heart from and where are your roots from in relevance to the culture but also as a South African living in 2018 you should always ask yourself where you come from because if you do not know where you’re from, it’s tricky for you to identify with your present and if you cannot identify your present it becomes harder for you to identify with your future” said the Director Osmic Menoe at the live nomination announcement.Public voting will open from 14 November and close on 14 December 2018, click here to view the full nomination list. The show will be pre-recorded and air on SABC 1 on the 29th of December at 21:00, those who wish to attend the ceremony can purchase tickets at any Computicket outlet

I have listed and broken down six (6) tips for emerging/ up and coming brands/ talents. Hopefully they will serve helpful to some. 1. The bas...

Beyond The Music with Wimz Montshioa

There's a saying that I like using, which goes "we can't all be everything and anything, but we all can be something" When one's caling is helping others reach theirs, you have to step up to it. Wimz Montshioa says he believes he was drawn into the pop culture  because the music fascinated him. So much so that he went on to try it out. Being from a Province that is so heavily Hip Hop influenced, more so by Motswako, there was no other genre to pursue but that. But when one realises that their passion lies just beyond the mic, you have to step up. Wimz later decided to dicth rap music to focus on being behind the scene due to realising that, what lit up his fire was working, nurturing and producing new artists to the people. He's been at it for a while as "the man behind the talent" and says he appreciates the state that the industry is at right now and says things could be better especially in his hometown. "The scene is great you know...
