Beyond The Music with Wimz Montshioa

There's a saying that I like using, which goes "we can't all be everything and anything, but we all can be something"
When one's caling is helping others reach theirs, you have to step up to it.
Wimz Montshioa says he believes he was drawn into the pop culture  because the music fascinated him.
So much so that he went on to try it out. Being from a Province that is so heavily Hip Hop influenced,
more so by Motswako, there was no other genre to pursue but that.
But when one realises that their passion lies just beyond the mic, you have to step up.
Wimz later decided to dicth rap music to focus on being behind the scene due to realising that, what lit up his fire was working, nurturing and producing new artists to the people.

He's been at it for a while as "the man behind the talent" and says he appreciates the state that the industry is at right now and says things could be better especially in his hometown.
"The scene is great you know.I love everything about it. Its growing so far I am happy to what I am seeing overall.
The scene in Maftown is nice, it's fun but it lacks maturity from all stakeholders. So everyone needs to grow up and start showing some maturity especially these event organisers"
Wimz does all his work through "WimzDom Productions" his newly established company which is now housed under Scissors Productions and Enterprises. The company's core service is taking on in and marketing new talent.
"What I do is identify talent and provide the platform that allows them growth and succeed in the industry."
His experience of working with emerging talents has afforded him the ability to know some much ssential ingredients of what it takes and how artists should go about this whole thing.
"People shouldn't do music when they don't know nothing about the music and it's beginnings, what it's about and how it should be tooled, especially to their benefit. Focus and work hard. Most importantly stay away from Hanger On's (read leaches) those are some dangerous people."
Being behind the scene allows one a chance to experience and see industry moments in a different view from someone who is deep in. He remembers many moments he's been a part of,experienced, the industry players he has interacted with and he says its just part of the job for him.

" I have been a part of lots and got to experience many industry game changing moments, but there is two that stand out for me. One was when the late HHP dominated the industry with "Music & Lights". I mean he even won You Magazine  "Music Star of the Year" award,
which was rare for rapper to be even nominated for around those days. The second one was when Cassper dropped "Tsholofelo". Man the game popped!"

Wimz has worked with a number of emerging artists like MabizoL, Cybot Khiry Lucas, TO II EL3V3NS, Don Blue,Mo'lemi, blu Sandwich &  he continues on to do so.

He is currently working with some artists on a compilation project which he says is 80% done. He says it features new artists such as Fig, Laminar Flowz, 9inety8ight, Kay Tah and Freddy Savage.

"The compilation will be known as "The Corolla Sessions" and it has features of Neo Soul, alternative rap , Motswako and Trap.
It's nothing but dope music. The aim is to take it to another level"

It's evident that Wimz has found his true calling and he is dedicated to it. The game does need rappers but it also needs industry players who will contribute to the growth of it.
"There's lots I aim and plan to do, achieve. I believe it's all possible."
People like Wimz may not feature in the spotlight or be destined for fame but their work is important. We tend to overlook a lot of these behind the scene contributors because the work they do does not expose them but we appreciate them just as much. Look out for WimzDom Productions, they might just have the next artist who got next.

The Motswako Prince of Maftown, Sly YoHighness

It looks like Sly YoHighness might just got next as the Motswako Prince. It's now been a long while since we've had a proper Motswako wave breakthrough. Remember when the Morafe and Tuks wave hit, or when Gata lenna came out, Fifi Cooper and the late HHPs consistency and many comebacks? A lot of us have been wondering "who got next"? With the fall of guys like Notshi and KT struggling to properly cement his stance, is Sly the guy to look out for? I hit him up through the socials, to find out what he's been up to and if he really got his sight set on the throne. So how did he get into this whole music and creative space thing? He says he's always been artistic and one thing led to the other . "I love & have always loved acting. I'm very out there & funny too (yes, he is). So once I started writing I kinda never stopped, though I always felt it's a farfetched dream or whatever but I kept on writing, even if it was just for mysel

Tan89Media Tips For Emerging Talent

Attention Emerging Talent!! So, for the years that I have been dealing with and working alongside emerging talent, more so, artists. I have noticed some behavior pertaining to their brand. That could be credited to lack of experience and knowledge but it could also be ignorance and lack of proactivity. A lot of talent lacks a lot of knowledge of their industries. The very same field they want to occupy one day. Its super essential for anyone to know as much as possible when it comes to a dream they are pursuing or a skill they are great at or anything for that matter they say they are passionate about. The very basic things to know are many times overlooked and undermined and they play a huge role in how you develop as a brand, how you are perceived, and it shows just how serious or not one is about whatever it is they are pursuing. I have listed and broken down six (6) tips for emerging/ up and coming brands/ talents. Hopefully they will serve helpful to some. 1. The bas
