Music trio Ane Dess Mengel releases Party Packed EP

If you are in tune with the Pitori slang you'd propably get what AneDessMengel translates to, if not i suggest you keep reading.
That's the name of the Ga-Rankuwa based HipHop Music trio.
SLK (Segopotso Moabi), Kgosi Boipelo (Boipelo Mahakwe) and Lethlogonolo Moagi aka Bra Jimmy aka Khemi aka LJ Lattrel aka Good Shxt Jimmy form part of this group.

They all have a journey of many years in the music industry with most years consumed by learning the industry, paving their way in and bettering their craft. The birth of AneDessMengel was as organic as the wild fruits growing in the forest.

"Initially the idea was to work as a duo with Kgosi Boipelo. The plan was to work on a collaborative Mixtape and Slk was our go to producer for the project. I think after we did the #NouSo Joint, we decided to feature a verse from him also and from there on we found ourselves working on the project together.
It wasn't a weird decision. We have been working together on music for the past 7 years or so. So after we had finished the Party pack Ep we then set down and decided that it was time to pave our own way into the game together" Bra Jimmy

Naturally every creative person has their own way of doing things and it can either be a hinderance or produce a good mixture of music. Learning to adapt, collaborate and accommodate each other is important.
The trio believes that It's important as all might have different styles.

"So we make sure that if we are not starting a project from scratch then feed off each other's pre existing ideas. For example on the song #Again SLK had the concept and the beat done prior to us working on the song. So we all just make sure that we are always working on something and then later present to the group during our sessions because all 3 members of Ane Dess Mengel are gifted at beat making and production. And as long as we are all for the bigger plan which is to see our name amongst the biggest in the industry and our brand recognized." Bra Jimmy continued

All the members of the group had previously been pursuing their career as solo artists and faced various challenges as unknown, independent and self financing artists. These challenges held them back from fully chasing the dream and most importantly making and releasing music.

"It eventually took me over 8 years in the game to drop my first full project out there (PartyPackEp hard copies) which I worked with both (Bra Jimmy and SLK) as Ane Dess Mengel. It wasn't easy, it took us like 2 years to officially release and print hardcopies of our EP. Being a self financed artist comes with a whole lotta challenges which one of them is losing your loved ones, more especially when you keep investing in your art without it paying back. It can be really frustrating for you and your loved ones and financially straining." Kgosi Boipelo

Fellow member SLK attests to the sentiments and adds that the industry is stagnant and that deprives them the space as emerging artists to showcase. "The game is stagnant. There are no opportunities or any kind of help from mainstream artists. Coming up as an independent artist is a lot of work and time and not many really have the patience."

And with the lockdown of full throttle, is seems emerging creatives have to fight extra harder and work smarter as it has affected everyone. Speaking of its impacts, Slk says " It has impacted our recording because of social distancing, and the fact that we cannot sell ourCDs. Right now we are limited to sharing our links and getting people to access some of our work online"

"Basically we just keep sending each other freestyles/beats, basically we working on things ko keep people entertained during this lockdown goya pele and promoting our project PartyPack which is available ka hard copy for 8 jackets (R80) and zipfile ka Pinkies (R50) to those who know nothing about #AneDessMengel they can just google us for links. Our singles 4.NouSo and 7.Again are available on most digital mengel." Kgosi Boipelo
Party Pack is their brand new debut project. It comes out as a colourful 7 track EP. The name might be all too revealing as far as what its all about.
Bra Jimmy explains that "the Party Pack is exactly that, what everyone expects to come home with after a good vibe. Its a selection of joints that we personally vibe and party to 🎉. Narratives about how we have been living since we met, a doorway into the lifestyle of today's youth.
The Party Pack is just a taste of what we as Ane Dess Mengel are capable of." And Kgosi further explains that their crazy and authentic lifestyle influences the music they put out as well as their audience. "There can only be one #AneDessMengel we don't follow trends,we set trends. Ek mean we been DessSinceMpeng #ForTheDessOnes

The Dess trio is looking to upload their EP on online stores so they can make money while under lockdown and waiting to push more of their hard copies. In the meanwhile you can listen to a taste of the whole EP on the link below.
They are something amazing for sure. I hope you were able to find out the meaning of their name, otherwise look them up on social media and ask find out.

The Motswako Prince of Maftown, Sly YoHighness

It looks like Sly YoHighness might just got next as the Motswako Prince. It's now been a long while since we've had a proper Motswako wave breakthrough. Remember when the Morafe and Tuks wave hit, or when Gata lenna came out, Fifi Cooper and the late HHPs consistency and many comebacks? A lot of us have been wondering "who got next"? With the fall of guys like Notshi and KT struggling to properly cement his stance, is Sly the guy to look out for? I hit him up through the socials, to find out what he's been up to and if he really got his sight set on the throne. So how did he get into this whole music and creative space thing? He says he's always been artistic and one thing led to the other . "I love & have always loved acting. I'm very out there & funny too (yes, he is). So once I started writing I kinda never stopped, though I always felt it's a farfetched dream or whatever but I kept on writing, even if it was just for mysel

Tan89Media Tips For Emerging Talent

Attention Emerging Talent!! So, for the years that I have been dealing with and working alongside emerging talent, more so, artists. I have noticed some behavior pertaining to their brand. That could be credited to lack of experience and knowledge but it could also be ignorance and lack of proactivity. A lot of talent lacks a lot of knowledge of their industries. The very same field they want to occupy one day. Its super essential for anyone to know as much as possible when it comes to a dream they are pursuing or a skill they are great at or anything for that matter they say they are passionate about. The very basic things to know are many times overlooked and undermined and they play a huge role in how you develop as a brand, how you are perceived, and it shows just how serious or not one is about whatever it is they are pursuing. I have listed and broken down six (6) tips for emerging/ up and coming brands/ talents. Hopefully they will serve helpful to some. 1. The bas
