Prodiiiiiii- "I respect Hip Hop too much to just put my name on a project."

"Ten years ago… Ne ke le Jozi, trying to study this sound engineering thing because I’’ve always wanted to put together a body of work that’s gonna represent where I’m from. A body of work that is going to show the black man in the township of Winterveld. Tell his story from his perspective.

As time goes you realize that its not even about you. When you write the songs & you record them… & you take them out & give them to people. It’s not about you anymore, it’s about the people! And that is why when you look up, people have to be giving you feedback. That;’s all I’ve been getting for the past ten years.

But to this day, there isn't a project with the name Prodiiiiiii on it. Kaore re tlhaha Sgandi JO! & Sgandi is about excellence in the time that we live in.

So goddammit! This year 2021! I enlisted the services of my best friend in the music industry , someone I honed my skill alongside, to produce, compose & engineer this entire thing. So that when it hits your ears, you relate.

This is Sgandi JO! Prodiiiiiii with 7i’s! You're gonna enjoy yourself, & you’re gonna cry, you’re gonna ask yourself questions. You’re gonna engage ‘cause that’s what it’s about. It's about engagement, empowerment & edution. Welcome to Sgandi JO! Goddammit!"

And that is how Prodiiiiiii presents to us his first ever project Sgandi JO! It comes in the form of a four-track bright yellow coloured cover with his animated face on it EP.

10 years ago he was in Jozi with a mission but right now his plan is to establish himself as an A-list performer by Autumn of 2022.

Prodiiiiiii comes from a place that's maybe as underrated as he is but for both him and Winterveltd or Sgandi as the place is fondly known as,they continue on to be and do their best.

Prince Seshingwana goes by the aka Prodiiiiiii and the 7i's is nothing but homage to someone he regards highly. ''The 7i's are for Zola 7 the greatest to have ever done it in this hater infested country.'' It might be surprising for a rapper to have a kwaito artist as their role model,if you will, but Zola was more than that. He was also for the people, the community and spoke his truth and Prodiiiiii is something of that make. His music can also be likened to be kwaito inspired because it speaks to the and about his surroundings.

Prodiiiiiii's dedication is undeniable and cannot be missed. Same goes for him, wether you are checking for him or not , you will not miss him.

He is as different looking as he sounding. A very deliberate thing because Prodiiii likes being himself more than anything and you will see it in how he dresses and presents himself to how he sounds and is on stage.

In all his years active as a rapper, Sgandi JO! is his first ever project to drop.

This move was because he didn't feel ready enough up to this point.

"I had to mature as an artist first. I respect Hip Hop too much to just put my name on a project. With Sgandi JO! I wanted a project that will showcase my versatility as a writer and vocalist without doing too much of the same thing''

The other reasons for him never releasing anything till this point could be that he has been busy with events as an organizer and host for several events across Pretoria the recent one being ''Black Labone''

The production credits on the EP features another pride of Sgandi, Thabiso Thabethe.

"Thabiso Thabethe is a specialist Hip Hop producer turned singer/ songwriter and I prefer him over all producers in the country. He’s amazing. We already have good chemistry since we’ve been band mates since 2015."

Prodiiiiiii is not only vocal on records but on the culture too. He often makes his opinion known and more often than not, he is bold and abrasive about it. Speaking on the state of Hip Hop and rappers  right now he said

"Are they getting bags though?? I'm over South African rappers. I’ve decided to compete with myself. They suck and they've given up on RAP. F#ck ‘em all as far as I’m concerned. O a chekang a tle ka ten tao"

He continues on as he speaks about his EP and what he intends with it

"I wanna remind people of good storytelling, and bring a new energy to South Africa’s pop music ecosystem. Bring back quality music and none of these nursery rhymes from Pitori “gangsters” and Bergville “”Nkabis”.."

This is Prodiiiiiii with the 7i's! And he presents to you Sgandi JO! You're gonna enjoy yourself, & you’re gonna cry, you’re gonna ask yourself questions. You’re gonna engage ‘cause that’s what it’s about. Engagement, empowerment & edution. Welcome to Sgandi JO!

The Motswako Prince of Maftown, Sly YoHighness

It looks like Sly YoHighness might just got next as the Motswako Prince. It's now been a long while since we've had a proper Motswako wave breakthrough. Remember when the Morafe and Tuks wave hit, or when Gata lenna came out, Fifi Cooper and the late HHPs consistency and many comebacks? A lot of us have been wondering "who got next"? With the fall of guys like Notshi and KT struggling to properly cement his stance, is Sly the guy to look out for? I hit him up through the socials, to find out what he's been up to and if he really got his sight set on the throne. So how did he get into this whole music and creative space thing? He says he's always been artistic and one thing led to the other . "I love & have always loved acting. I'm very out there & funny too (yes, he is). So once I started writing I kinda never stopped, though I always felt it's a farfetched dream or whatever but I kept on writing, even if it was just for mysel

Tan89Media Tips For Emerging Talent

Attention Emerging Talent!! So, for the years that I have been dealing with and working alongside emerging talent, more so, artists. I have noticed some behavior pertaining to their brand. That could be credited to lack of experience and knowledge but it could also be ignorance and lack of proactivity. A lot of talent lacks a lot of knowledge of their industries. The very same field they want to occupy one day. Its super essential for anyone to know as much as possible when it comes to a dream they are pursuing or a skill they are great at or anything for that matter they say they are passionate about. The very basic things to know are many times overlooked and undermined and they play a huge role in how you develop as a brand, how you are perceived, and it shows just how serious or not one is about whatever it is they are pursuing.
